Antonie Griezmann, the 2018 World Cup winning French international, who now plays for FC Barcelona, has his sights set on joining America’s top flight soccer league in the future.  “Winning LaLiga and the Champions League with Barca would be a dream, and also my objective,” the star forward said in an interview in an interview with the Los Angeles Times.  “After that winning whatever comes.  There’s another World Cup so the World Cup in Qatar.  And after that MLS.”

When asked about any preferences of Major League Soccer sides he would consider joining, Griezmann said: “I don’t know which team, but I really want to play there.  For me it’s an objective to end my career in the United States with the possibility of playing well and being part of the team and fighting for a title.”

This isn’t the first time the French soccer star is suggesting that he is interested in coming to play in the MLS.  In an interview in September to French sport paper L’Équipe he said: “If Beckham wants in in his club, then I’ll go,” referring to David Beckham’s MLS expansion team Inter Miami CF.  “I want to finish my career in the US,” Griezmann added.  “I don’t know yet if it’s going to be in Miami or Los Angeles. Two Great Cities…I like the mentality and show culture of the US.”

The French forward says he first wants to win all major trophies with his current club FC Barcelona, as well as returning to win yet-another World Cup with his native France in 2022 (in the 2018 World Cup, Griezmann won the MVP title for the final match against Germany).  But after checking these marks he really wants to head across the Atlantic and come to play soccer in the United States.

At the age of 29, and being just two years away from the next World Cup, a move to Major League Soccer in America may not be too far in Griezmann’s schedule.  He can already be marked as a high-quality target for David Beckham’s new Inter Miami club, as Becks is known to be looking for a world-class soccer star to sign for putting his franchise in front of the eyes of soccer fans around the world.  Beckham even suggested that he will be looking at signing Griezmann’s Barcelona teammate Lionel Messi when the time comes.

The French forward made his senior soccer career in Spanish La Liga, spending the first five seasons in Real Sociedad, and from there moving to Atletico Madrid and becoming an icon in the club with 180 appearances and 94 goals.  Moving to La Liga Champions FC Barcelona in 2019 for around $135 million, Griezmann was already showed his promise scoring 8 goals in 26 appearances.  He will soon return go playing for FC Barcelona on June 13th against Real Mallorca, with the return of LaLiga from the coronavirus-suspension.
